As of last night, I realized that my longer than most stay in Europe means that I will be on the right continent for the Heineken Cup Finals, held this May in London. With my favourite team, Munster, currently undefeated in Pool 1 of the group stage, there is a chance that I’ll have the opportunity to see O’Connell and O’Hara scrum and kick in the flesh.
In terms of travel arrangements, discount airlines are key to travelling to and from these events. Due to the high air traffic surround this event, its looks like I’ll have to arrive a little earlier and leave a little later that ideal as to grab onto the cheapest possible tickets. Booking hostels ahead of time is also going to be necessary, as the volume of international supporters streaming into the city for this event will be massive. Tickets, actually aren’t that highly priced in comparison to what Canadians are used to supporting expensive brand name teams like the Maple Leafs. Plus there’s even a discount on the Amlin Challenge Cup (second tier rugby) if you buy in advance.
