The Joys of Napping

Written by: Joanna Gussmann

In keep with my new Laissez-Faire lifestyle, I have taken up a new hobby: napping. Now I know most people would say that napping isn’t really a hobby, but for the rest of my exchange it is for me! In Canada napping was only an option for me if I was feeling sick, otherwise I felt guilty wasting my time and just had another coffee. Now that I have tried it more regularly I completely understand why others do it.

My new European lifestyle consists of: morning class, lunch, errands/homework/fitness classes, dinner and going out. This has me waking up as early as 7am each morning and going to bed at 2am to even 5am. Fitting a nap into the schedule is the perfect way to keep me going and ensures I don’t feel the need to say no to any experiences. Napping works much better than coffee because it is like a mental refresh button, and it leaves you revitalized and ready to tackle the rest of the day.

I know once I’m back in the “new world” with my old responsibilities I will probably go back to my old habits. But for now I’m going to stop, smell the roses and take a little- zzzzzzzzzz………………..
