My first trip abroad was to Paris – and it was definitely a trip I will never forget! Let’s just forget the fact that it was absolutely freezing & I was missing the nice warm Barcelona weather the entire time – because other than that, it was amazing!
I think we squeezed in as much as we possibly could within the 3 days we were there! I arrived Thursday night and we decided to just take it easy to get up early and have a full day of touristing on Friday. The next morning we braved the cold and set out to see the city. We saw the Arc de Triomphe, strolled down Champs de Elysee, walked across the love locks bridge, admired the impressionistic work of Monet, Degas, Renoir and Cézanne at Musee D’orsay, visited the Notre Dame & Sacre Coeur cathedrals, and even went to see Moulin Rouge! The next day we made it to see The Mona Lisa at the Louvre, the Eiffel tower at night & my favourite part – The Palace of Versailles.
The Palace of Versailles was absolutely magnificent, but also incredibly huge! The golden gates, the endless hallways, the incredible architecture and the beautiful gardens took my breath away. It was such a thrill to know that we were walking down the same halls as French royalty such as Marie Antoinette. We even got to see her room! We weren’t, however, allowed to explore the gardens due to “bad weather” conditions, so if you are to visit Paris & Versailles, I would suggest going in the spring or summer when all the flowers are in bloom and fountains are running.
I loved Paris, and since I returned I have been booking even more trips – I want to see as much of Europe as possible while I am here. I have booked a trip to Andorra, Germany, Budapest, and Amsterdam! I can’t wait!
Also, did I mention as soon as I got home I watched Moulin Rouge & Marie Antoinette?
