On the last night in Guilin we decided to go out to what seems like its the only club in the City. I have to mention that I was NOT prepared to go anywhere that required I look presentable. I went partying in my fuzzy hat and north face jacket. Compared to all the well dressed party people I looked awful, but I think the only reason it was acceptable is because I was clearly a foreigner so they just accepted the way I was dressed. Maybe they figure that in Canada we all go partyin’ dressed in snow suits.
Here are some of the main differences:
They had someone singing on pedestals. She was dressed….differently. And then another dude came and sang a chinese version of a Lady Gaga song. He was also dressed…differently.
On all the tables they had bowls of fruits and on some of them there were plates of veggies, meats and CHICKEN FEET.
They were walking around giving everyone popcorn, such a random snack!
There were police standing in the club. It would have been intimidating except for that he kept nodding along to the music.
All the locals kept trying to give us drinks, which was really nice of them. It was a random girls birthday and she gave us some of her cake and let us try some of her pink, lychee flavoured champagne drank.
Everyone except us had had to buy tables at the club I’m pretty sure and they were all playing a game that involved dice and cups.
It was funny how different it was, but I think I could totally get used to partying with popcorn, especially because I wasn’t the only one wearing a winter hat. They know how to live.
