Today I began my adventure, leaving Toronto bound for Zurich. Somehow, leveraging my greater that average height, I was able to secure a bulk head seat, with leg room galore. In the end though, it turned out not to be as useful. Perhaps due to the general lack of snow in Switzerland recently, the flight was rather quite empty. One attendant guessed no more that forty percent of capacity. With so few passengers, people were taking advantage of three seat rows, pulling up the arm rests and sprawling out for a decent sleep on the red eye flight. Much to my dismay, my once lovely bulk head seats were built in a way that kept the arm rests securely in a downwards position, and left my body awkwardly balancing uncomfortably for what wasn’t the most restful sleep. After giving in, I relocated to the ground in from of my chair and passed out.
I was reading the other day that we perceive airline food to be disgusting due to how loud the plane’s engine is. Weird isn’t it? That the droning hum of the plane engines can affect how we enjoy our meals. Well, with my headphones on, I gobbled up not one, but two meals, and washed it down with three rum and cokes. That may have explained my ability to sleep on the floor.
My absolute favorite part of flying, is during landing, when the plane dips down beneath the sheet of clouds and you experience a breathtaking aerial of the world below.
